Cheryl and Bob Capoocia’s Tiki collection all started with a broken down bamboo bar. They bought it from a fraternity house, intending to refinish it and put it out by the pool in their backyard. But their plans changed when they moved from San Diego to Spokane.
With a brand new backyard and no place to put the bamboo bar and their growing tiki collection, the Capoocia’s needed a place to display their hard-found items. After touring a Tuff Shed display building at a home and garden show, Cheryl and Bob were hooked. “It felt so sturdy and not at all like a little backyard shed. It was perfect,” says Cheryl. They went straight to the local office in Spokane and met with the team to plan their future Tiki Bar.
Our Spokane team helped Cheryl and Bob decide on the perfect building for their backyard bar, an 8×10 Premier Pro Tall Ranch. “They helped us find a great place to build the shed and we got some options we really love, like the windows in the doors and the shelf inside,” says Cheryl.
To get the new shed “party ready”, Cheryl and Bob lacquered over the shelf to ensure spills would wipe away. They added bamboo flooring and hung decorative bamboo mats over the walls and ceiling. With the addition of their Tiki décor collection and of course, the original bamboo bar, their Tiki Bar is always ready for a celebration. “We’ve already had a few parties and it’s been a big hit,” notes Cheryl, “No one can believe it’s a shed and when we open up the double doors it just seems like a part of the patio.”
It’s awesome! We love attending Bob and Cheryl’s tiki parties. The “bar” is just the right size. So nice it can be closed up tight to keep the elements out in the winter.
