It’s not every day that you hear of employees taking vacation time to give back to the community. Well, last Friday, our VP of Marketing, Phillip Worth, and our Home Depot Program Manager, Miguel Tena, did just that.
For the past three years, Phil and Miguel have volunteered in helping Habitat for Humanity build houses in the Denver Metro Area. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit that brings people together to build homes, and communities of hope.
While a day on the job site isn’t a totally foreign concept to these two, they typically spend more of their work days at a desk rather than on a ladder. “This day has become a great reminder for us of how hard our pre-fab crews work at our factories and how hard our authorized installers work in the field,” says Miguel. “We come away from this day with a renewed appreciation for our construction team members,” adds Phil. “Plus, Tuff Shed and Habitat for Humanity share similar work values like hard work, quality and safety.”
Miguel and Phil represented Tuff Shed as part of a team of ten volunteers coordinated by Montview Presbyterian Church. Together the group added all the roof flashing, the fire-rated drywall to the sidewall eaves and porch and covered the entire house exterior in “blue board” exterior insulation.
Some people might call this a hard day of work (which it is), but to Phil and Miguel, this is just another vacation day.
